Frequently Asked Questions:

Why do I need to worry about identity theft?
Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America. Recently, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff said “I’m going to submit to you that in the 21st century, the most important asset we have to protect as individuals and as part of our nation is the control of our identity, who we are, how we identify ourselves, whether other people are permitted to masquerade and pretend to be us, and thereby damage our livelihood, damage our assets, damage our reputation, damage our standing in the community.

How do you protect my identity?
We start by placing and renewing fraud alerts on your credit report. The fraud alerts expire every 90 days, so as long as you remain a customer of One You Security, we automatically renew the alert. Next, with our PowerScan advanced technology platform, we scour over 150 million unique websites, 80 million blogs, thousands of chat rooms and billions of spam emails everyday searching for our customer’s confidential financial information. We also monitor national address databases looking for any unauthorized changes in our customers mailing address. Finally, with our privacy protection service, we put our customer’s private information back in their hands.

What is a fraud alert?
A fraud alert is placed on your credit report at the three major credit bureaus requiring any company issuing you new credit to first contact you and confirm you are really the person applying for the credit. It’s a check in the system intended for anyone who has been or thinks they may become a victim of identity theft.

Can’t I set my own fraud alerts for free?
Yes, but you must remember to renew them every 90 days as they expire so you are always covered. As a customer of One You Security we handle those renewals for you, plus you’re protected by our online PowerScan technology, change of address monitoring and privacy protection, you’re also covered by our $1,000,000 service guarantee and full restoration services. No company in the world can guarantee to absolutely STOP identity theft. That is why you need the protection and services offered by One You Security. If a breach occurs while you are our customer, it’s our problem to fix and pay for, not yours.

Will a fraud alert damage my credit rating?
No

What kind of confidential information does your PowerScan look for?
Primarily credit and debit cards, Social Security Numbers and bank account numbers.

Why would I think I may become the victim of identity theft?
Since 2005 there have been over 225 million data breaches containing personal information on individuals in this country. Your Social Security Number is the key to your financial kingdom. You use this number to get a cell phone, go to the doctor, get a job, and receive a mortgage or bank loan. You can’t function in society without giving it out on a regular basis. It’s everywhere and easy for identity thieves to get. Anyone who has a Social Security Number is a prime candidate to become a victim of identity theft.

How does your $1,000,000 guarantee work?
Our $1,000,000 service guarantee is in place to reimburse you for any actual out of pocket expenses or losses you suffer as a result of an identity theft while you are our customer. The average identity theft can take hundreds of hours and cost in excess of $1,000 to restore. While you’re our customer, this will not be your burden to bear. It is our guarantee to you.

How does PrivacyWatch remove me from these lists?
One You Security has struck agreements with massive co-registration data warehouse and compliance organizations to reverse your previously provided consent to various forms of direct marketing through co-registration marketing distribution systems.

Can’t I just opt out of this myself for free?
You have the right to request marketer’s remove you from their lists, however, the marketer is only required to remove you from their internal list. Keeping up with the hundreds of companies sharing in your private information is virtually impossible though.
